While Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant may be ahead of schedule in recovering from a torn left Achilles tendon, it appears unlikely that he will play in the preseason.
The Los Angeles Daily News reported Thursday that Bryant is still a few weeks away from running 100 percent on his own.
He was injured in April and recovery can take six to nine months.
Bryant's rehab involves running at 75% of his body weight on a treadmill. Lakers athletic trainer Gary Vitti said Bryant is still a few weeks away from full-weight bearing running.
The Lakers start training camp Sept. 29. It is not clear if Bryant will play at all in the preseason.
